You only live once, it’s true you just have one life. People misuse this whole YOLO thing though, use it as a justification for their reckless decisions. Yes, you have one life, live it, but that doesn’t mean sleep with every man/woman who crosses your path, drinking alcohol like it’s water, smoking weed 24/7, driving intoxicated without a care in the world, doing hard drugs all the damn time, living on the edge you say…….. Do everything with moderation, relax, everything needs a balance, too much of something is poisonous.

YOLO shouldn’t mean you are suddenly on a suicide mission, being a whore, well AIDS is still real, yeah there’s still no cure, innocent kids are fatherless or abandoned in unthinkable places, being an alcoholic is not cool, or being admitted to a mental clinic, or drunk driving and endangering your life and others……YOLO?? No!!! …. you just have zero direction and too much free time and money to spend, which you probably didn’t earn. If you did you never save, turn up every single day, why?? YOLO…..What are you even celebrating on a daily basis?? Who said YOLO means live a reckless life and reason like a child, I probably didn’t get that memo. Ooooh yeah, you are emulating all these music videos you see, you’re literally living the lyrics, the wrong lyrics.

You only live once, just once, this isn’t a trial, you will have no take two, no second chance, when yesterday has passed it’s past, you either lived or you existed. This ‘living and existing’ phrase was repeated so often by a character in one of Tyler Perry movies. Living is making the days count, waking up in the morning ready to better yourself and your life. Existing is watching as the days go by, complaining and constantly blaming someone about your problems, and doing nothing to change that that’s my understanding. Thing is though we all have problems.

Now this is YOLO!!!! I love the these lyrics, and the song in general, and Beyonce of course. Okay okay point is, don’t waste away your life you just have one. It’s a gift of time, spend that time wisely. Live your life for you, given the chance to look back you would have a smile glued to your face, not because you lived a perfect life….but because you lived each day. Make mistakes and learn, dream big, have goals and strive to achieve them, fail get up and try again, love deeply, cry if you are hurt, laugh, try a new sport/game, change your wardrobe, be loud, be quite, be petty, go on an adventure, take risks, stay happy, when sad live that moment but don’t stay stuck, your not happy with your job, quit start a business, turn up, celebrate, write down that bucket list, start doing what’s on it….. look back proudly at your life.

So stop kissing ass, trying to get someone attention, trying to fit in, accept rejection and move on. Stop the excuses start getting results. Explore, find something you love and give it your best. Break that routine. Just grow up………. Yes you, and do something you love with this one life you have. Do what makes you happy, and only you know what that is.
